Description
RMT Cobalt TiAlN Coated Stub Drill Bit.
Imperial sized Cobalt TiAlN Coated Stub Drill bits manufactured by Rocky Mountain Twist Drill to NAS (National Aerospace Standards). The 127-XP range in stub length are cobalt steel coated with TiAlN. The high-performance coating and 127°-point angle are exclusively combined to create specific design and cutting characteristics.Drill flutes on Rocky Mountain stub drill bits are precision ground using the latest automated CNC technology. Close attention to drill geometry and accuracy ensures the 127-XP stub drill is more effective for faster and more efficient swarf and chip removal. The split point, specially ground flute, 127 degree point angle and TiAlN coating facilitate an improved penetration speed. An optimum drill for high productivity in screw machines and sliding head lathes before moving onto carbide tooling.
With increased speeds and less load pressure required, this is a productivity enhancing drill bit. Cobalt TiAlN coated stub drill bits feature a 127° split point which self-centers and pierces the material surface on contact eliminating drill walking. Ground precisely to tight quality standards, the flutes deliver superior cutting performance and precision.
What is a Stub Drill Bit used for?
Stub drill bits are ideal for thinner gauge material where a longer flute length isn’t requited and more rigidity is needed, this makes them ideal for most drilling devices. Stub drills can also be known as screw machine drills, so called because they are used in screw machines where clearance from the spindle is limited. Sliding head style CNC machines have a similar level of clearance, making stub drills a more frequent choice.Material Application
